Hello and Happy New year!
I hope that you’ve had beautiful holiday time with friends and family and that you are gearing up to have an awesome 2023.
After having great success with my Mobility for Dancers class last year, I’m continuing to run weekly classes this month exploring what it means to be a creative mover and how to start building the physical capacity to dance, play and explore movement with your body in non-linear and organic ways. Learning how to be a good mover means learning how to control your body in all kinds of situations and in these classes we explore how to start building these more organic forms of strength.
Being stiff, uncoordinated, clunky and unable to move without fear of injury is something I am very familiar with and so if you are looking to start changing your relationship to your body, this could be a great opportunity to start doing that. It takes a long time to change our relationship to our body and to start allowing for more movement in our life and in these classes I’m aiming to help you ease the transition into a more movement filled life.
In each class we will explore a variety of tools and topics including
-The science of mobility and joint function
-How training for dance and movement differs from traditional fitness
-Bodyweight strength training
-Tools for increasing your body awareness and control
-Mobility drills and exercises
I absolutely love dancing so this class will still be focused on getting you to be a better dancer, just incase you were wondering ;)
Each class is two hours long and is a maximum of 6 participants per class. This is nothing like a yoga class or a group fitness class, this is a space to explore movement as a small intimate group. We will work together, play movement games with different partners and there will be a lot of time to connect, chat and share about our experience.
Each class will be different so if you would like to attend several classes, you will get something different out of each one. Everyone will be coming from different levels and backgrounds so I will be curating the content to match the group.
